Who is eligible?
Generally anyone who has served a significant amount of time in the Army, Navy, Marine Corp, Air Force or Coast Guard may be eligible. You will need to complete the online application to being to use your benefits, the application is locates at http://www.gibill.va.gov and should take about 30min. What is covered by the VA for flight training?
Here are the two most common entitlement eligibility chapters, if you feel you may qualify for any other programs please contact Elite at 702-835-1222 or the VA office at 888-GIBILL1 (888-422-4551). For all programs you may only use your entitlement for Vocational training (either furthering your career or entering a new trade) within flight training the is the training leading to a Commercial pilot rating or above with an exception to allow you to concurrently enroll in your instrument and Commercial ratings. This requires that a student hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate to enroll. if your do not currently hold a certificate we do have several ways to help you obtain or finish your Private Certificate, Give us a call and we can discuss your options.
Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30)
The VA will reimburse up to 60% of the cost of your training up to your personal entitlement limit. The exact amount can only be determined by the VA and will be discussed when you are completing your application to use your benefits. If you are currently eligible for Chapter 33 benefits and wish you may elect to change your benefits from Chapter 30 to Chapter 33 one time, this can never be undone and only the VA can assist you in making the election to change. you may fly as often as you like and the VA will issue the reimbursement to you monthly.
Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
The VA will pay up to $10,000 per academic year (Aug-1 to Jul-31). Under Chapter 33 there are no maximum limits the amount of your funds but you will be limited in months of eligibility, the amount of eligibility can only be determined by the VA and will be discussed when you are completing your application to use your benefits. If you are currently eligible for Chapter 33 benefits you may elect to change your benefits from Chapter 30 to Chapter 33 one time, this can never be undone and only the VA can assist you in making the election to change. After the initial $10,000 per academic year the you will be responsible for the cost of the flight training, the first $10,000 is billed directly to the VA after determining your eligibility.

Step 1 Determine your eligibility status with the VA
-Online application http://www.gibill.va.gov (takes about 30min)
-Call 888-GIBILL1 (888-442-4551)
Step 2 Bring all the needed enrollment documents to Elite to complete Enrollment. (takes about 1 hour)
Items to Bring
-Certificate of eligibility from VA (Sent to you after you complete the application)
-Your application to the VA may be enough is some cases, contact Elite to see if you apply.
-Second Class Medical Certificate (third class privileges are fine)
-proof of US citizenship or right to obtaining training (permanent resident card or M-1 Visa from Elite)
Tasks to complete at Elite
-Meet with Chief or Assistant Chief instructor to complete enrollment in the desired courses
-Meet with VA Certifying official to allow the use of VA entitlement at Elite and receive a copy of the Veterans information bulletin
-Meet with your Flight Instructor to confirm your flight schedule
Step 3 Go Flying
-Keep your flight schedule as standard as you can and out as far as you can in the future to minimize delays. (2 months preferred)
-This can be done with your instructor or with one of the Dispatchers.
